Advanced education and training for our caregivers, the latest equipment in our facilities, and mission-based initiatives that take us beyond the walls of our hospitals. That's what your generous gifts support. Over the years, donors to our healing ministry have provided equipment for a NICU in Deep East Texas, built a nursing simulation lab in the heart of the Texas Medical Center and developed an anti-human trafficking program that stretches across the greater Houston area. Every day our donors are helping to transform each community we serve.

General Excellence

General Excellence funds are used to support projects, operations, capital or any other hospital priorities identified by leadership. Advanced heart-lung machines and the latest robotic surgical systems at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center are the types of patient-centric projects that donor support can help move forward at any of our hospitals.

Nursing Excellence

Our Center for Nursing Excellence focuses on professional development, clinical practice, and research and innovation across our 17-hospital Texas Division. The center develops management and leadership succession programs and nurse recruitment and retention strategies. The center also provides infrastructure and support to advance nursing education, career development and research.

Mission-based initiatives

St. Luke's has a deep commitment to its mission to make the healing presence of God known in our world by improving the health of the people we serve, especially those who are vulnerable, while we advance social justice for all. Mission-based initiatives include our work to address health inequities, an anti-human trafficking program, advanced training and education for our chaplains, and ensuring resources are available for colleagues in crisis.

Called to serve

Meet Will Cravens, a St. Luke's Foundation board member whose calling to serve inspired him to lead a more mission-centered life and to make an investment in the health system's vision for the community. "He is always thinking about how he can help us advance our mission," says Donna Budak, St. Luke's vice president of philanthropy.

A passion for doing good

Stan Marek, a devout Catholic, is passionate about charity for others. That desire to help comes in many forms, including his role as chair of the St. Luke’s Foundation. As chair, he has supported a variety of initiatives that align with his commitment to serve the most vulnerable, including gifts to St. Luke’s Employee Assistance Fund and Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center.

A system of care

Juliet and Dick Moynihan’s reasons for giving are simple. They both see it as the right thing to do. They are especially passionate about supporting health care. Dick a retired chemical engineering graduate from Northeastern University in Boston, knows that regular giving, even when it’s modest, can ultimately have a big impact.

Back in action

Tod Taylor’s office is filled with pictures of the planes he flies, quotes that inspire him, and a map dotted with pushpins to indicate the status of various personal and professional projects. He embraces challenges and lives life to its fullest. So it’s hard to imagine him so exhausted he can barely navigate the aisles of a grocery store.
